Each of DPI’s regional blocks carries out practical programmes to build the movement:
- Leadership training — developing new leaders among persons with disabilities, and particularly among women and youth with disabilities.
- Organisational strengthening — recruiting member organisations, supporting national assemblies, and improving governance and financial sustainability.
- Independent living — supporting the establishment of independent living centres and peer-support networks, drawing on exchanges such as those between DPI-Japan and partners in Africa and Asia.
- CRPD toolkits — DPI has produced ratification and implementation toolkits to help organisations plan advocacy article by article, using environmental scans and SWOT analysis.
These programmes are delivered by DPI’s regional development blocks and member national assemblies.
