DPI Region

North America & the Caribbean

This region links national councils and chapters across the Caribbean, Canada, the United States and Guyana, several of which were founding forces in DPI.

The North America and the Caribbean region includes national councils, associations and DPI chapters across the Caribbean, together with the Council of Canadians with Disabilities and the United States International Council on Disabilities. Canadian disabled activists played a central role in the founding of DPI in 1980–81.

Regional work spans CRPD monitoring, independent living, employment initiatives and the leadership of persons with disabilities in national policy.
