Asia-Pacific

DPI Asia-Pacific (DPI AP) convenes national assemblies from South Asia, South-East Asia, East Asia and the Pacific, and works closely with the UN ESCAP disability agenda.

Disabled Peoples’ International Asia-Pacific (DPI AP) is one of DPI’s most active regional blocks. It holds regional assemblies that elect regional councillors and executives, and it engages directly with the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Incheon Strategy to “Make the Right Real” for Persons with Disabilities in Asia and the Pacific.

At its 2016 Regional Assembly, co-hosted with DPI-Japan in Tokyo, member national assemblies adopted the Tokyo Declaration and agreed a series of actions towards the midpoint review of the Incheon Strategy. The Assembly decided that Bangladesh would host the following Regional Assembly.
